In May 2003 the Pudsey In Bloom group met for the first time, it is our aim to:
To make Pudsey a more attractive place for visitors and residents. To encourage residents and traders to take a pride in their surrounding environment. To develop and maintain existing planted areas within the Pudsey Centre. To create new natural and planted areas of interest. To work with local schools in encouraging young people to be more aware and caring of their surroundings. To endeavour to maintain a litter and graffiti free environment. To seek ways of funding through available grants and organised fund raising activities in order to support the work of the group and its aims.
We cannot achieve all this without support from businesses and residents within Pudsey. It is going to take a lot of hard work and the more volunteers there are to help with this the easier it will be. Long term we will be entering Pudsey in the Yorkshire In Bloom Competition when judges will visit Pudsey and look at our efforts in the following areas:
Public places, e.g.: Parks and Road verges. Residential gardens and voluntary groups: e.g. Schools and Churches. Business and commercial units, e.g. pubs and shops. Evidence of environmental work, e.g. Tree & bulb planting, landscaping or recycling and the absence of litter and weeds.
Groups within Pudsey have already made an excellent start on improving Pudsey and making it a more attractive place to visit. The Rotary Club of Pudsey have sponsored attractive raised beds in the Robin Lane car park: the Pudsey Chamber Of Trade has worked hard to get the Graffiti removed in the town Centre, and through the years many areas have been planted up by the Pudsey Civic Society. We hope this is just the start of things and that with your help we can continue making these improvements.
WITH YOUR HELP WE CAN MAKE PUDSEY A BETTER PLACE!
